Rehmannia root is the name of several flowering species in the Lamiales type of plants in Asia. The plant does not actually belong to any of these families because of its specific molecular structure. It is a perennial herb that is native to China, Korea and Japan.This origin made it one of the 50 basic herbs that has been used in Oriental medicine for thousands of years.
The plant also is known as dihuang, and is easy to recognize due to the flowers shaped like bells that are yellow or red/violet in color.
